About KTV Nightlife Japan

For a safe and transparent Japanese nightlife experience

Our Mission

KTV Nightlife Japan is a multilingual editorial guide for foreign visitors and foreign residents in Japan. We cover kyabakura, hostess clubs, and KTV with practical context for what terms mean, what prices usually include, and how to prepare for a visit. Many first-time guests find industry jargon and pricing unclear, so we publish source-based venue data in five languages to help make safer decisions.

Editorial Policy

Every venue and article on this site passes the following review standards.

Venue vetting criteria

Each venue is reviewed against a 4-point checklist: verified existence, operating-license confirmation, service quality, and ability to support non-Japanese-speaking guests. Venues with unresolved compliance risks are excluded, and entries are rechecked when details change.

Pricing transparency

Where verifiable, we list set fees, nomination fees, bottle fees, and service charges. Prices can change by day and time, so we recommend confirming the final pricing directly with the venue before visiting.

Translation and cultural context

Industry terms such as shimei, dohan, and shime are explained with cultural context, not only by literal translation. Glossary, FAQ, and the Beginner Guide cross-reference each other for layered understanding.

Update cadence and freshness

Refresh cadence is tuned by page type: venue pages are validated more frequently, while city/area and column pages are revalidated on a scheduled hourly basis. Opening hours, pricing, and roster data are cross-checked with venues and updated when confirmed.

Coverage & Languages

We cover Tokyo (Shinjuku, Roppongi, Ginza, Shibuya), Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo, and other major Japanese nightlife areas. Five languages are supported: Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
